Uludağ Ultra Marathon 21K

Terms and Conditions of Participation

1. General:

Uludağ Marathon is a trail run with a length of approximately 21 km and 920 m + climb in the Uludağ and its skirts, which is on the list of Turkey's National Parks and are the winter sports center with its unique nature.

The Race starts at the Zeyniler Village on July 01, 2018 at 08:00. The race is based on partial competence and participants are required to complete the course within 6:30 hours. Partial competence implies that the participants carry their materials with them, which allows them to continue to run safely in the nature conditions they may encounter.

2. Terms of Participation

The age limit for running is 18. Participants must have a health certificate which is valid on July 01, 2018 and that does not prevent them from running, or a sports license approved by a sports federation. Related documents must be presented to the organization before the run. It is necessary for the runners to have the athletic preparations and wear appropriate clothes for different weather and nature conditions.

3. Registration

Registration Type

Only registered runners can participate in the run. Registrations will be done on the website. The deadline for registration is June 15, 2018.

The maximum number of participants is limited to 300 runners. When the registration number reaches the maximum number of participants, the registration deadline will be closed immediately.

Each registration made is unique. The registration will not be allowed to deviate or someone else to run instead of a participant.

Registration Fees

  • 01 January - 28 February 2018: €30
  • 01 March – 30 April 2018: €40
  • 01 May - 15 June 2018 : €50

In order to participate, registration fee must be paid by Visa or MasterCard credit card at the time of registration. Participants who have paid the registration fee will be taken into account in the creation of the final registration list. The organization reserves the right to discount the registration fee on certain conditions.

The registration fee includes the following items:

  • Bib number
  • Timing chip
  • Event t-shirt
  • Food and beverage support at check-points points throughout the course
  • Pasta Party
  • Buffet after the race
  • Finisher’s medal


Cancellation and Re-fund

If the registration fee is canceled by May 15, 2018, it will be refunded within one month at the latest. In case of cancellations after this date, the registration fee will not be refunded.

Registration cancellation requests must be communicated in writing to the contact address.

The amount paid by the participant is returned to the participant in the same way.

In case of bad weather, safety or similar circumstances, the registration fee will not be refunded if the competition is stopped or canceled due to reasons beyond the control of the organization.

4. Race Kits

Participants are required to take race kits including the bib number and other items at the dates and times listed below:

30 June 2018,Saturday: 10:00 - 22:00 - Zeyniler Village

01 July 2018, Sunday: 06:00 - 07:30 - Race Starting Point

5. Race Start

Participants must be in the starting area of ​​the race at no later than 07:30, 01 July 2018. Race will start at 08:00. In the starting area there will be clothes change and bag delivery points for the participants. Participants can take back their bags at the end of the run provided they show their bib numbers or IDs. The organization is not responsible for the goods left elsewhere except for the bag delivery area.

6. Race Course

The 21K race starts at the Zeyniler Village and after going to Fidyekızık, Cumalıkızık, Kürekli Waterfall  ends at Saitabat Waterfall. The majority of the race will be run on the trail and the total altitude gain during the race is +920 meters. The limit for the race is 6:30 hours. The track is marked with a minimum of 10 meters and a maximum of 100 meters according to the terrain structure.

The running track will be marked with bright bands and other methods visible at night. It is the disqualification cause to go out of the defined route and make a shortcut.

7. Check Points and Cut-off Times

Details will be declared later.

8. Environmental awareness

The area where the run is to be done is an important natural national park of Turkey. Participants need to respect the environment, not throw their garbage out of the trash bins and destroy the natural environment. Participants who do not pay attention to this issue will be disqualified directly. There will be no plastic cups at intermediate points to reduce the amount of garbage. Because of this, each participant is required to carry their own cup or water container.

9. Security and Health

The organization has the right to make changes, including stopping, shortening, changing course or canceling, before and during the competition, in case of bad weather conditions (eg heavy fog, storm) to prevent participants from being in danger and ensuring they are on healthy conditions. In the event of such changes, the participant will be informed by the organizers before the run or by the officials at intermediate points during the run. All registered participants are obliged to comply with the decisions made.

Health officials and ambulances will be located at key points along the running track and where the organization deems it necessary to ensure participants' health and safety. Participants can go through the health checkup if the health teams and officials consider it necessary; May prevent attendees from continuing to run when they feel that they are a risky situation in terms of preventing their participation or running their health. Participants are obliged to comply with the decisions made. Despite the warning made, all the responsibilities of the participants who continue running are in themselves.

10. Mandatory Equipment

During the run the participants are obliged to keep the following items with them:

  • ID
  • Water (at least 0,5 lt with bottle, hydra pack. etc..)
  • Bib Number
  • Cell phone (with organization and emergency contacts)
  • Hat or bandana
  • Appropriate shoes
  • Timing chip (If Provided by the organization)
  • Participants running with the running poles need to carry them along the course, they cannot leave them at any point.


11. Disqualification and Penalties

The following situations are direct reason for disqualification

  • Not going through any checkpoints
  • Using a shortcut or a vehicle
  • Getting support anywhere except checkpoints
  • Leaving a participant who needs help and not to help.
  • Destroying the natural environment or throwing garbage.
  • Refusing to be checked by health personnel.
  • Refusing the control of the mandatory materials by the organization.
  • Disqualified runners are not allowed to continue running.
  • Runners with poles will be given an additional 1 hour penalty if they drop their poles before they finish running.
  • As a result of the check, the participant determined that he / she does not have any of the compulsory materials will be punished with 1 hour penalty.


12. Results

The non-finalized and final results will be published on the website. The results will be evaluated on the following categories:

Male/Female General Classification

- Male/Female 35+ (1982 and before)

- Male/Female 45+ (1972 and before)

- Male/Female 55+ (1962 and before)

13. Awards

Each participant wins a special finishers medal at finished.

Special medals are awarded to competitors in the first 3 of each category. No rewards are awarded in age groups to graders in the general classification.

The award ceremony will be held on 01 July 2018 Sunday at 19:00 in Zeyniler Village.

14. Photograph and Video rights

Photographs and videos of registered participants recorded during the event will be used by the organization for promotional purposes.

15. Disclaimer

Participants who have registered Uludağ Ultra Marathon with their own wishes or invitation are deemed to have accepted the running rules and the changes that the organization can make in these rules. The organization cannot be held responsible for any material or moral damages or accidents that are incurred by the participants or the participants.
